Natural Resource South East Sulawesi Province

Natural resource potential is very variety, such as agriculture, forestry, oceanic and fishery, animal husbandry, and plantation sector. Total width of rice field that use irrigation system is 70.726 ha, consist of technical irrigated rice field 24,744 ha, semi technical irrigation 20,163 ha, PU simple irrigation 10,460 ha, village irrigation 15,359 ha. Total width of rice field that use cistern system is 13,858 ha, rise and fall system is 2,211 ha and other irrigation system is 1,212 ha.Crop that is produced from technical irrigated area and non technical irrigation is 57,943 tons/ year with area’s/ harvest’s width 16,253 ha. The width of corn area is 6,088 ha with production level reach 9,860 tons/ year. Sweet potato area’s width is 3,960 with production level 142,620 tons/ year. Cassava area’s width is 11,770 ha with production level 4,965 tons/ year. In forestry sector, there are 5 forest preserves, 42 protected forests and 52 guarantee practice forests. All forest area’s width is 1,061,270 ha (40.82%). Critical area’s width in 2005 reaches 1,202,040 ha. Forest crop divide based on kinds of forest, those are Non Logging Concession forest crop, and following forest crop. Non Logging Concession forest crop in 2004 is in the form of log with production total 61,855.79 tons, timber used for lumber with production total 953.94 m³ and whim wood reach 9,539 tons. Whereas following forest crop is rattan with production reach 14,861.82 m³.Oceanic and fishery sector is potential natural resource. In the location of fish catching potential reach 250,000 tons/ year. Exploitation level now is 157,479 tons/ year (± 63%) with production types such as swift fish, kembung, the oil sardine, red fish, tenggiri, and the grouper.In the waters of Banda Sea, Flores Sea, Bone Bay, and Tomini Bay (ZEE Waters) fish potential reach 77,500 tons/ year and skipjack 38,670 tons/ year.Animal husbandry sector is dominated by cow, goat, sheep, pig and duck. Beef cattle population in 2005 is 212,000 tails, slaughter amount per year reach 24,020 tails and population growth reach 2%. In small livestock, goat population amount in 2005 is 90,089 tails, sheep 240 tails and pig reach 27,760 tails.Poultry animal, such as population of domestic poultry reach 7,431,140 tails and laying pullet 40,820 tails. Livestock amount reach 443,600 tons. Broiler population amount 810,000 tails with breeder amount 232 people. Average of production per year meat that is produced is 648,560 tons per month.Plantation sector is dominated by coffee, oil palm, cacao, pepper, vainly, sugar palm, and cashew fruit. Area’s width of coffee plantation in 2005 is 10,541 ha with production amount 3,587 tons per year. Area’s width of oil palm plantation reach 3,602 ha, cacao plantation 175,349 ha with production amount 110,521 tons per year, vainly plantation 1,280 ha with production amount 18 tons per year and cashew fruit area’s width 119,659 ha with production amount reach 34,034 tons.Natural resource which also potential is mining sector like asphalt, marmar, and nickel ore. Location of asphalt spreading is in Biton Regency and Muna Regency. The area’s widths of asphalt mining in both regencies are 13,003.67 ha with potential/ deposit reserve amount reach 680,747,000 tons. In marmar store mine type, the location of its spreading is in Buton Regency, Muna Regency, Kolaka Regency with area’s width entirely 189.082 ha with the potency amount / deposit reach 206.237.000.000 m³.
